The Alumni Scholarship Assistance Program (ASAP) is a supplementary program of the Council's Higher Education department.  The ASAP provides annual scholarship awards to all enrolled Tlingit or Haida tribal members regardless of service area, community affiliation, origination, residence, tribal compact or signatory status. ASAP is not federally funded but rather dictated by those monies earned on an annual basis from the following sources:

• donated money on behalf or in memory of a loved one, clan or community
• donate as an alumnus or supporter of the Alumni program
• raffles (State of Alaska Permit #35)
• Annual Spring King Salmon Derby (State of Alask Permit #35)
• other fund-raising events held throughout the year

All monies earned by the September 15 deadline date, other than administrative costs are used solely for student scholarships.  Click here for a complete listing of recipients since 1997.

1. Application period is July 1 through September 15 annually.
   
2. Applicants must provide the following for award consideration:
   
   1. Completed Alumni application.
   2. Official high school, college or GED transcripts (whichever is most recent) indicating a 2.50 GPA or better.
   3. A Tribal Enrollment Certification form (last page of application) must be fully completed even if a person has completed one in the past, or has obtained an official tribal enrollment number.
   4. Copy of Letter of Admission/Acceptance (LOA), registration, or proof of enrollment from an accredited college or university indicating full-time enrollment in a declared degree program.

Note: Some colleges have an open admission policy and do not give letters of admission to students. In this case it is the student's responsibility to request a verification of enrollment from the registrar's office to be sent to Higher Education.

3. Cover letter from the student indicating the following:
1. statement describing financial need,
2. list of academic, professional and/or personal activities, and
3. statement of personal goals.
